Mantilla: A traditional Spanish veil piece that is often worn during religious celebrations such as at a Spanish wedding, or during Holy Week. It is a light lace or silk scarf that is worn over the head or shoulders on a high comb and held in place by pins.
Peineta: The comb that holds the mantilla in place. It's very large and decorative. Traditionally, these peineta's were made with tortoise shell, but now they are created with synthetic materials such as plastic or acrylic.
Escaramuza Dress: Originating in Jalisco, Mexico, this dress consists of a very wide skirt that makes waves with stripes in the middle that forms a star, and more stripes at the bottom end. The blouse is made out of manta (cotton) with a high collar, and stripes of embroidery.
Mexican folk-dance dresses: One of the most stunning (and crazy!) dresses that are worn by women during their fiestas or at their dances. The dresses speak for themselves. Men will wear outfits resembling the "charro" when participating in the dance.
