Serape: A serape is a blanket-like shawl often made of bright colors. It's a multipurpose wool cape that became famous during Mexico's many wars and armed conflicts during the 19th & 20th centuries. It functions as a saddle blanket, a sleeping bag and an overcoat in cold or rainy weather. After Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821, the serape became a symbol of Mexican culture.

Sombrero: Wide-brimmed hat. In Mexico, peasant sombreros were usually made of straw, while wealthier people wore sombreros made of felt.
Bolero or Traje Corto: A short jacket, sometimes embroidered, and they usually go over plain white shirts made of cotton.

Traditional Charro Outfit: The charro outfit is found by people who are part of a mariachi band. It consists of a vest & short suit. Ornaments line the pants along the sides just like the buttons do on the vest & coat. Like many Mexican styles, there is a lot of various patterns and extensive (mind-blowing) embroidery.
